First Midsummer Faeries

the first little faeries of the summer

Our 2011 Faery Festival was wonderful; the yard was full of faeries flitting about enjoying the day.  We had so many come to the festival that we may have to move it to a much larger place!

This little elf and faery stopped for a moment to let me take their photograph.  When I developed the image, I saw that two more faeries had joined them in the garden, can you see them?   I am always surprised that they are clearly there in the photograph, but were completely invisible to me when I snapped the photo.  Can you see them?  I’ll show you!

This is the beautiful faery sitting quietly in the background...

I did not add her or draw her or did anything but develop the image with my usual technique… is it magic?

Not every Fine Art Faery Portrait reveals the faeries that are in my garden, but  most do… It’s so much fun to find them!

I’ve done it, I’ve tricked the trolls!

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

I don’t know if you’ve had this problem with your blog site, but I was swamped with unsavory comments from all over the world.  An army of robo-trolls were sending vile spam through my comment form.  It was maddening.  But I found a plug-in to out smart those unsavory trolling spammers:  NuCaptcha. It’s great!  If you are having the same spam-troll infestation, get the plug-in.  You can test it by writing a comment to this post, see how it works? It’s awesome.   FAERY BLESSING TO THEM ALL!

Ahh…the faeries, yesterday I received a request for another Fine Art Faery Portrait.  I love it so much that I’m adding it to the finalist folder for the 2013 calendar!  She is the sweetest little flower faery, don’t you think?

Back from the New York Faerie Festival…

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Tom, Sam, and I went to the middle of New York to visit another faery festival.  It was very different from our little festival, more adults in costume, more land, more food, and several tents with beautiful faery art and clothing for sale.   The landscape was just perfect, with a beautiful babbling brook along the path to all the little grassy areas where music and theater was taking place.  There were nests with baby birds along the way, and faery houses; and an occasional nasty trolls hiding on the path.  Two very mean trolls guarded a bridge to the wishing tree and they would NOT let you pass without paying their toll –something beautiful or shinny.  Fortunately one lovely food vendor was running around giving shinny white stones to all of the children so they could pay the troll toll.  We were at a loss for anything shinny or beautiful so we had to turn around, besides, poor Sam was freaking out, she was very frightened of the trolls.  Dogs are very wise.  What I loved the most was this magical faery house on the side of the path. It was built of sticks and had carved log and mushroom tables.  I would just love this in our yard.  I think we might look for a bigger place for next year’s festival…something with water and woods. But how will we keep the trolls away?

No one seemed to see these ancient ones as they walked the faery trail.

Faery Blessings.

These are a few of my favorite things:

http://www.silkcloque.com/index.html Reyen’s Design Studio: Unbelievably beautiful tops of woven wool and silk. Perfect for a hot summer faery festival. If I had a million dollars I would buy you several!

http://www.moresca.com/intro.php Moresca Clothing & Costume… She’s come from Feyland and has brought her dresses with her, because it isn’t possible to make such beautiful dresses on the human plane– A must for every self-respecting adult sized elf or fae.

Our "Call for Models" week

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Tom and I are exhausted but thrilled at some of the portraits we were able to capture this week.  We had more than thirty little ones show up for their moment in the spotlight.  They brought hats and costumes and some of the sweetest smiles you could ever imagine.  What fun.
